Models Rockets, also called micro-rockets, are small rockets mainly build from paperboard. Thanks to special engines (based on a composite propellant) they can be launched. They return to 'earth' due to a parachute mechanism (or simular), so they can be relaunched. Only the motor can be used once and needs to be replaced for each launch. Just fold your parachute again and you are ready for another flight.

Building a model rocket is one of the most simple and cheapest
sort of scale model building. At the same time it is very spectacular
if you think about the altitudes of several hundreds of meters a
model rocket can achieve. It's therefore a very useful way to
introduce kids to rocketry and scale modeling in general.
Of
course kids should always be accompanied when building and launching
a model rocket.
Security is most important. The motors are ready made and are
fired using an electric ignition only. Most known manufacturer of
rocketry motors is ESTESTM from the United States, where
rocketry has its roots. For additional information about the motors
and there usage always read the included manual. The rockets are
launched from a (small) launch platform with launch rail. When
launching model rockets a minimal distance of 5 meter from the launch
rail should be kept. Security training is part of the hobby.
